Magical Drop VI (マジカルドロップ6) is the sixth mainline entry in the Magical Drop series, released in April 2023 for the Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam and GOG, with versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE coming at a later date.[1] It later released in March 2025 on mobile through Crunchyroll Game Vault.[2] It was published by Forever Entertainment, under license from Magical Drop rightsholder G-Mode, and was developed by Highball Games and Storm Trident. A limited edition physical version was planned for worldwide release, but ultimately only released in Japan.
Gameplay[]
Magical Drop VI contains six single-player modes, on top of local and online multiplayer. More modes and features are slated to be added through free DLC throughout 2023 and 2024.
Gameplay Modes[]
- Story Mode – A board game mode inspired by Magical Drop III's Adventure mode. The player explores Magical Land, viewing dialogue between the various characters and engaging in multiple gameplay scenarios.
- Match Mode – The series-standard 1P vs CPU gauntlet. The player selects a character and battles both unlocked and "mystery" characters.
- Survival Mode – The series-standard "endless" play mode. The player attempts to survive as long as possible, while not having to contend with an opponent.
- Puzzle Mode – Based on Flash Mode from Magical Drop II, the player races against the clock to complete preset puzzles. Should time expire, the ceiling rapidly descends in an attempt to eliminate the player.
- Path of Destiny – Unlocked by clearing Story Mode, Path of Destiny is a more direct take on Magical Drop III's Adventure mode. Players attempt to reach the end of the map, contending with three rivals along the way.
- Caravan Mode – Unlocked by finishing a Survival Mode session with more than 100,000 points, Caravan Mode challenges the player to gain the highest possible score within 2 or 5 minutes.
- Multiplayer – Play with your friends locally, or face players from all around the world online.
Characters[]
Magical Drop VI will, after a series of free DLC updates, include every character from Magical Drop III. Additionally, the final DLC will add Burnz and two mysterious new characters.

Trivia[]
- Daughter Strength was referred to as "Strength Daughter" in pre-release videos.
- Initially, Lovers was the only character available in Match Mode and Versus Mode that did not need to be unlocked. In response to fan feedback, the game's first update on PC removed the unlock requirements for Fool, Justice, and World, who were already playable by default in Survival Mode and Path of Destiny.
- Black Pierrot's unlock was initially bugged in the Nintendo Switch version; the character would not unlock under any circumstances. This was fixed in a patch that released a few months after launch.
- Magical Drop VI's first trailer featured one more character slot than the final game. It is likely that Burnz was meant to be part of the base roster, as much of his data exists within the base game while the other DLC characters are completely absent. According to the game's internal character data, he would have been unlocked by finishing Story Mode on Hard; accomplishing this does nothing in the final game.
